Sunday Lunch at Red Canoe
August 22, 2011 at 12:02 pm | Posted in Dessert | 4 CommentsLast Sunday morning after many a rain storm and an insane 5 mile run through the rainstorm, I discovered that my previously scheduled lunch date was not going to work out, so I instantly messaged Jen my cousin to see if she was free for lunch instead! She was! And so we took a nice sunny drive down to Harford Road and had a nice leisurely lunch full of summer vacation talk and other fun discussions. It’s nice being able to just sit with Jen and talk since most of our conversations happen on G-chat or text!
Red Canoe was the perfect place to catch up and relax. We had some sandwiches and split a muffin! Go check em out…
Really nice artwork in this place…
Colorful and festive.
Jen got the quintessential rainy day meal. Tomato soup and grilled cheese. The tomato soup was good and creamy (not watery like the Campbells version at all). But the bread on the sandwich was a little too tough to be satisfying for Jen.
I got the The Zacker with basil pesto, mozzarella, chicken, bacon, tomatoes. I loved it… mostly because I was seriously craving pesto! The cheese was delicious and the bread was nicely toasted.
But the real star of the show was the muffin. We took one look at this heavily frosted muffin through the display case and we were sold!
Amazingly, the contents of said muffin were just as alluring! Cranberries, orange zest and chocolate. Mmmmm chocolate.
The store had a great selection of kids and adult books. I’m sure if I wanted to spend another lazy Sunday afternoon with a big coffee, a good book, and some more muffins, I definitely would want to be there!

I haven’t been to Red Canoe in ages. Used to take my adopted goddaughters there for storytime

You can never go wrong with a great tomato soup and grilled cheese! I’ve made America’s test kitchens tomato soup – they thicken it with bread and its so good!
