Lobster Insanity!!!

So two Sunday’s ago our fun meal idea all started with this, and then it went to this:

Mr. Michael, the seafood extraordinaire, at Wegman’s really helped us out! Ned had been talking about doing lobster for a month and a half after “mind” devouring the Thomas Keller recipes in his cookbook. We finally decided that last Sunday was the day to do it! Let me just tell you, BOY ARE WE LUCKY! Driving up to Wegman’s on Sunday afternoon, what do we see? A Lobster on Sale sign! Apparently Wegman’s got some lobsters that were taken from the ocean in Maine and had them flown down and trucked up to Hunt Valley in a refridgerated Fedex truck! All that crazy traveling just so we could enjoy them. :-D

So it all started with Michael and it ended with this masterpiece:

Quite a brilliant combination of ingredients. The leek and tomato concoction was so fresh and bright and even with the beet essence, the natural flavor of the lobster was able to shine very well! And the potato crisp was just so decadent and crispily awesome. Check out this recipe and our Lobster “Mac and Cheese” below…

Strawberry Treats for My Birthday LoveFeast!

September 3, 2009 at 5:35 am | Posted in Dessert, Entertainment, Travels | 11 Comments

So yes, today is my 27th birthday (and “uncle” Bob’s!!!) and although some of you might think I am mighty young, Jesus Me! I am so old! :-D Ahhh, anyways-I am so blessed to have such a wonderful network of family and friends in this glorious city of Baltimore. And 14 of my dear friends and loved ones who live here are honoring me greatly by joining me at Woodberry Kitchen tonight for the biggest birthday feast ever!

Can you imagine?? A LoveFeast for sure!! So because I am (in my humble opinion) a baking overachiever and I can’t really accept the fact that all of my friends are spending lots and lots of their hard earned moola just for my birthday, I had to do something to show my sincere gratitude! I figured that everyone likes chocolate chip cookies and I remembered this divine recipe I made last year, so I whipped up a big batch on Sunday and finished my packages on Monday night! Aren’t those strawberries just the bees knees?? I love martha stewart crafts!!!

Birthday Peanut Butter Brownies!

September 1, 2009 at 12:56 pm | Posted in Dessert | 7 Comments

So my relatively new coworker Ryan was born just six days before me in 1982. He is a welcome addition to our crew at work and the drinking gang on the weekends here in Baltimore! (don’t worry Auntie I don’t drink more than 2!) I wanted to make sure he knew how thankful I am that I have him to work with so I made these brownies for his birthday!

Luckily these key ingredients were already stocked in my kitchen so I didn’t have to rush out to get anything while I was making them late Thursday night. Auntie Helen has recently been raving about Elise’s site, Simply Recipes and so when I thought about where to get a classic homemade brownie recipe, I went there! Well Elise and Suzanne and Auntie are right because this was a fantastic one!
