An Afternoon Trip to Patisserie Poupon

August 31, 2009 at 1:54 pm | Posted in Dessert | 10 Comments

Since last week’s work week had some hellish long nights and because I got a huge rush project done at 2 pm on Friday I said SEEYA and went off into my weekend wayyy earlier than normal! My whiney requests to Ned to ditch work early too were declined so I decided to have a pastry date with myself! I have always wanted to stop into this fantastic Baltimore shop, but never had been in the neighborhood on a “free” afternoon.

And these pictures were taken with my new Nikon D70 (a birthday present to myself!) – thank you Ms. Kelly & Craigslist!  Check out some sugar below…

Here is a view of the for sale desserts. So beautiful with all of the fresh fruit and colored concoctions!

And here are the specials for Friday. The pineapple cake sounded great, but I tried to stick to the cheap things!  With getting 14 cookies and the little tart it came to 7 bucks. Not bad!

Here is my silly and beautiful arrangement of treats on the back of the box the shop lady gave me for my tart. She must have thought I was crazy taking everything out of the bag and arranging it to take  a picture! ahhhh…such is my life….

I can’t wait to get my hands on my ordered macro lens (50 mm/f 2.8 blah blah I have no idea!). So I can finally get some clear and up-close pictures and be able to  focus on things I actually want to focus on!  So the tart, which sat in the fridge for 2 days, (how shameful!) was eaten by Ned in one bite! He said it was good, tasted just like any other fruit tart he has had.  My favorite was the lemon macaron, such bright flavor!  The madeleine and other flavored macarons were pretty good too (raspberry, chocolate and pistachio…)

This is my inside the cookie bag shot! Yay for a sack full of perfectly constructed french delights!  After I went home, Jen and I headed over to Baltimore Coffee and Tea and I got a mocha and ate some of the cookies. I saved the rest for my saturday morning breakfast paired with some earl grey tea! Love fresh french cookies, LOVE EM.

Love Patisserie Poupon. I’m glad it’s not really within walking distance of my home or work because I’d go there much, much too often.
