Surprising Spoons
May 22, 2009 at 5:47 am | Posted in Brunch, Travels | 6 CommentsLast Sunday morning was a bit rainy but it was a nice enough day to head down to the JFX farmer’s market! I picked up some strawberries and asparagus and got to see my favorite foodie blog ladies, Julie, Meg and Renee. Meg suggested we check out Spoons for brunch and I was a bit hesitant- cause, come on, how can a coffee shop have a good brunch!? Well I was wrong! They have a nice and thorough menu and boy can they make a mean french toast. I was in heaven!

Week after week of joining these ladies at the farmer’s market and then brunch, I have really come to appreciate and love such charming Sunday morning companions!
I am soooo going to miss this in the next several weeks of crutch land.
I got the Lemon Curd French Toast with Fresh Local Strawberries – ‘three slices of Texas Toast, homemade lemon curd, fresh strawberries, mint.’ As you might know I love sweet things and french toast is my brunch weakness! I saw that their version had the curd and fresh strawberries and I was hooked. So beautiful and the perfect amount too! I also paired this with some fresh squeezed OJ and it never ceases to amaze me how delicious fresh juice can be.

Meg also got the french toast and thoroughly enjoyed it. Renee got some eggs and Julie tried the homemade granola. This space is so low key and relaxing, I think we should definitely incorporate this place into our usual spots!

Looks so yummy!! Definitely will put it on the list of “to visit!”
I have to say though, I usually have breakfast at the JFK market…I can never pass up the mushroom fritters. It’s my weakness!

Any chance this is a chain? I went to a delicious little coffee-like bar while I was living in Paris, and it was called Spoons. They had an amazing brunch.
