Thursday night I stopped by the Hamilton tavern to catch some beers and eat some more cow! yay! This place is so chill and hip and was perfect for the relaxed evening that I was looking for! The amount of thought and love put into Annabel Lee Tavern is definitely matched at Hamilton Tavern!
True to Elizabeth Large’s words, it can definitely get loud (I mean metal ceilings??) but I definitely enjoyed my meal (see below).
And the women’s bathroom?? To die for! They have pages from all of the classic literary achievements by women as wallpaper (toni morrison, emily dickinson, etc..) Definitely my most inspiring visit to the loo.
I got the roseda beef cheese burger with bacon (which they said was spicy) but I thought had a nice brown sugar flavor to it. Mad props to the people up at Roseda Beef, that cow is some cow! And look how well Hamilton tavern delivered my request for medium! They also served it with a horseradish mayonnaise, lettuce, tomatoes, and red onions. Now I have a thing with raw onions, but somehow that aversion was put to rest! This burger, although not as large, definitely rivals my favorite burger at Brewer’s. The homemade potato chips were delicious, but (fyi ) I’m a food snob and was craving some rosemary garlic goodness!
I addition to feasting on the burger, I imbibed some spiced ale (similar to Blue Moon) but the name escapes me! Where is the bar website people! Lastly, the waitress offered up the dessert choices and I COULD NOT decline! I got a strawberry ice cream sundae with fresh whipped cream and pine nut brittle. PINE NUTS PEOPLE! Have I ever declared my unabashed love for all things pine nut?? It all started in Florence and its name was gelato. We got along well… two times a day for three days straight! (okay maybe not two times a day…three…haha)
Overall, I am very pleased with this spot! I have some friends who live in the neighborhood and we definitely need to head over there more often!
